【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesadescriptionofthebehaviorofmaterialspecimensunderaspecifiedfireexposureintermsofthereleaserateofheatandvisiblesmoke.Itispossibletodeterminethechangeinbehaviorofmaterialsandproductswithchangeinheat-fluxexposurebytestingspecimensinaseriesofexposuresthatcoverarangeofheatfluxes.Thedataobtainedforaspecifictestdescribetherateofheatandsmokereleaseofthespecimenwhenexposedtothespecificenvironmentalconditionsandproceduresusedinperformingthattest.Theentireexposedsurfaceofthespecimenwillnotbeburningduringtheprogressiveinvolvementphasewhenpiloted,pointignition(impingement)proceduresareused.Duringtheperiodofprogressivesurfaceinvolvement,releaseratesofheatandsmokearex201C;persquaremetreoforiginalexposedsurfaceareax201D;notx201C;persquaremetreofflameinvolvedsurface.x201D;Theratesofbothheatandsmokereleasearecalculatedpersquaremetreoforiginalsurfaceareaexposed.Ifaspecimenswells,sags,delaminates,orotherwisedeformssothattheexposedsurfaceareachanges,calculatedreleaseratescorrespondtotheoriginalarea,nottothenewsurfacearea.Heat-releasevaluesdependonmodeofignition.Gasphaseignitiongivesamoredimensionallyconsistentmeasureofreleaseratewhenveryrapidorimmediateflameinvolvementofthespecimensurfaceoccurs.However,piloted,pointignitionallowsrelease-rateinformationtobeobtainedatexternalheatfluxfromzerouptothatrequiredforsatisfactorygas-phaseignition,usuallyover20kW/m2externalexposure.Nocorrelationbetweenthetwomodesofpilotedignitionhasbeenestablished.Releaseratesdependonmanyfactors,someofwhichcannotbecontrolled.Itispossiblethatsamplesthatproduceasurfacechar,alayerofadherentash,orthosethatarecompositesorlaminatesdonotattainasteady-statereleaserate.Thermallythinspecimens,thatis,specimenswhoseunexposedsurfacechangestemperatureduringperiodoftest,willnotattainasteady-statereleaserate.Therefore,releaseratesforagivenmaterialwilldepend,forexample,onhowthematerialisused,itsthickness,andthemethodofmounting.Heat-releasevaluesareforthespecificspecimensize(exposedarea)tested.Resultsarenotdirectlyscalabletodifferentexposedsurfaceareasforsomeproducts.Themethodislimitedtospecimensizesofmaterialsinaccordancewith7.1andtoproductsfromwhichitispossibletoobtainatestspecimenrepresentativeoftheproductinactualuse.Thetestislimitedtoexposureofonesurface;therearetwooptionsforexposureorientation:eitherverticalorhorizontal.Ifaheatreleaserateof8kW,whichisequivalentto355kW/m2for150-mm[6-in.]by150-mm[6in.]verticalspecimens,or533kW/m2for100-mm[4-in.]by150-mm[6-in.]horizontalspecimensisexceeded,thereisdangerofcombustionoccurringabovethestack.Nogeneralrelationshipbetweenreleaseratevaluesobtainedfromhorizontallyandverticallyorientedspecimenshasbeenestablished.Conducttestsonspecimensintheforminwhichthematerialisorientedinenduseconditions.Toprovideadditionalinformation,conducttestsinthehorizontalorientationforthosespecimensthatmeltanddripintheverticalorientation.Releaseratemeasurementsprovideusefulinformationforproductdevelopmentbygivingaquantitativemeasureofspecificchangesinfiretestperformancecausedbyproductmodifications.ThistestmethoddiffersinboththemethodofexposureandthecalculationprocedurefromthetechniquesusedinTestMethod
